Weekend Fun!!!

One of my dearest and oldest friends, Jennah, was in town this past weekend. And, as usual, we had a blast! We went to fantastic restaurants, reunited with old friends, laughed A LOT and had great late night chats.
We LOVE 2Amys

The Gang

Justin was very excited to learn that 2Amys pizza is Italian certified.

Millie Mae & Jennah Renae

Yummmy! I ate the entire pizza!!!

The pizza was so tasty that an eating contest was practically imminent. I thought I could take Tyler...but, he put me to shame. At least I tried.

Justin and Nikki "encouraging" everyone to take a piece of gum.

Pentagon Memorial

With my favorite gals after church.

Oh, what a night...

Dinner with friends, Chareese, Tyler & Justin.
Tried a questionable looking olive.

I didn't like it.
A little Rock Band...always a good idea. I may be addicted.

A visit to Cold Stone Creamery

We stopped by Cold Stone the other night for ice cream...naturally. And, I was amazed at what I saw! If you haven't ever been to Cold Stone, you're missing out. You pick an ice cream flavor, some yummy toppings and the lil' ice cream helpers mix it all up right in front of you. Well, the lil' ice cream helpers at my local Cold Stone are somethin' else. When they finish whipping up your desired treat, they they toss the scoop of ice cream to another lil' helper who catches it in a bowl. I was flabbergasted by this, thought it was the neatest thing ever, and asked if I could try. (I'm not very shy...) They gave me an apron, asked me what flavor I wanted, and tossed a scoop of "sweet cream" right at me. I am happy to say that not only did I catch my ice cream...but, the scoop I caught was on the house! Yum!!!

Chareese caught the entire thing on video. I'm so proud.

Labor Day

My Dad came to Washington, DC over Labor Day and we had a great weekend! We went to Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, the DC Temple and visited with some Glendora friends.

~MONTICELLO~

Smile Daddy!

I WAS NOT ready for this picture. But, please take note of the logo on my proud Papa's shirt. My mom had it made for him. It says, "U of U Grad, BYU Dad." We ran into some BYU alumni while we were walking around the grounds who thought it was pretty funny.

We walked down to the Jefferson Family gravesite. President Jefferson designed his headstode and wrote his own epitaph wich reads, "Here was buried Thomas Jefferson Author of the Declaration of American Independence Of the Statute of Virginia for religious freedom & Father of the University of Virginia." Interesting, that he didn't mention that he was also the third President of the United States.

Tourists who visit Monticello throw nickles (which bears Jefferson's profile) onto President Jefferson's grave for good luck.

TREE HUGGER
Dad and I found these two trees walking around the grounds! Take a close look. It is two trees, with one growing around the trunk of the other. Very neat!!

~THE WHITE HOUSE~

Our great family friends, Patsy & Walt Gorrell, were visiting from Glendora for the USC vs. Virginia Football game. Walt played football for USC and is a true Trojan. Patsy gave me cooking lessons when I was a little girl. Wonderful people, fantastic childhood memories!
Walt, having a moment in the Press Briefing Room.

Rose Garden

Cheeeeeese!

~WASHINGTON, D.C. TEMPLE~

The best part of the entire weekend was our morning at the Temple.
So special. So wonderful. So true.

Newspapers

A friend sent this to me. I got a kick out of it and had to share.

Newspapers of America & Demographics

1. The Wall Street Journal is read by the people who run the country.
2. The Washington Post is read by people who think they run the country.
3. The New York Times is read by people who think they should run the country and who are very good at crossword puzzles.
4. USA Today is read by people who think they ought to run the country but don't really understand The New York Times. They do, however, like their statistics shown in pie charts.
5. The Los Angeles Times is read by people who wouldn't mind running the country, if they could find the time, and if they didn't have to leave Southern California to do it.
6. The Boston Globe is read by people whose parents used to run the country and did a poor job of it, thank you very much.
7. The New York Daily News is read by people who aren't too sure who's running the country and don't really care as long as they can get a seat on the train.
8. The New York Post is read by people who don't care who is running the country as long as they do something really scandalous, preferably while intoxicated.
9. The Miami Herald is read by people who are running another country but need the baseball scores.
10. The San Francisco Chronicle is read by people who aren't sure if there is a country or that anyone is running it; but if so, they oppose all that they stand for. There are occasional exceptions if the leaders are handicapped minority feminist atheist dwarfs who also happen to be illegal aliens from any other country or galaxy, provided of course, that they are not Republicans.
11. The National Enquirer is read by people trapped in line at the grocery store.
12. The Seattle Times is read by people who have recently caught a fish and need something in which to wrap it.
