FOR LUNCEFORD

A few family updates for the little brother in Pittsburgh, PA. Cameron is officially 17 and still growing!!!

Mama and I look so short next to him.

Mom and Dad still crack each other up. Here they are at Cam's birthday dinner.

Dad got new glasses.

So did baby Kate.
She liked Bobo's thick rims and wanted something similar.

Jane, Catherine & Luke were able to visit some darling puppies.
(I wanted to take one home with me.)

All the kiddos are still very "talented" at making silly faces.

Luke is practicing his "body slam." He and Jack are getting ready to take on Uncle Mase.

I'm a fashion designer!!!

Okay, I'm not really a designer. Darn it. Maybe I should rethink my career path? Nope, too late for that. Onto my story. I was at Sacks Fifth Avenue today (No, Mother, I wasn't shopping.) and came across a brand called, Milly! I was so excited! I'm not kidding when I say, it made my day! She had some cute things. More info about Milly, found here.

Mitt says it best...

A Timid Advocate of Freedom
President Obama has failed his early foreign-policy tests.

By Mitt Romney

At last week’s Summit of the Americas, President Obama acquiesced to a 50-minute attack on America as terroristic, expansionist, and interventionist from Nicaraguan president Daniel Ortega. His response to Ortega’s denunciation of our effort to free Cuba from Castro’s dictatorship was that he shouldn’t be blamed “for things that happened when I was three months old.” Blamed? Hundreds of men, including Americans, bravely fought and died for Cuba’s freedom, heeding the call from newly elected president John F. Kennedy. But last week, even as American soldiers sacrificed blood in Afghanistan and Iraq to defend liberty, President Obama shrank from defending liberty here in the Americas.

In his first press interview as president, he confessed to Arabic television that America had “dictated” to other nations. No, Mr. President, America has fought to free other nations from dictators. And in Strasbourg, the president further claimed that America has “showed arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive.” London’s Daily Telegraph observed that President Obama “went further than any United States president in history in criticizing his own country’s action while standing on foreign soil.” Of course, it was not just the Daily Telegraph that was listening: People around the world who yearn for freedom, who count on America’s resolve and support, heard him as well. He was heard in China, in Tibet, in Sudan, in Burma, and, yes, in Cuba.

Memory Lane

I have been organizing, A LOT, the last few days. Oh, and baking. Yup, you heard right, baking. I've made cupcakes, cookies...and, ventured into the wonderful world of bread. So exciting. (Disclaimer: Baking wouldn't be nearly as fun, if it weren't for my very cute apron, from Mrs. J. Parks. Thanks, girl!)

One of my self-assigned tasks, has been to get a handle on my email accounts. Yes, accounts. As in more than one. At first, it was a messy chore. However, it began to be something I looked forward to. Reading old emails and looking at various attachments, etc. has been so fun! Needless to say, I've laughed out loud more than once. Some of the fun/random things that have made me smile this week are...

Grandma and her hog. She's a card carrying member of the NRA. Don't mess. Mrs. Parks and our princess cupcakes. This was the "treat" I brought to an enrichment activity. This was obviously before the cute apron and before I caught the cooking bug.

Always had a soft spot in my heart for this comic. It sits on my desk.
I don't even remember taking this picture! (I'm guessing it's from our BYU graduation?) Lisa always makes me smile.

LOVE these little gals! They're the best nieces an aunt could ask for!

What's in a name?

One of my dearest friends is expecting her first baby. What do you do when you're expecting? Search for the perfect name, of course! I had fun looking through a name book that lists "historical characteristics" (more or less) of people with certain names. I looked up mine and wondered...Is this description true?

Millicent: Must have faith. Needs alone time. Communicates skillfully. Ups and downs financially. Artistic, having good taste. Self-expressive, cheerful. A free spirit, very adaptable. Original and unconventional. Dynamic, busy lifestyle.
Millie: Creative entrepreneur. Artistic, having good taste. Great verbal skills. Ups and downs financially. Blessed in some ways. A free spirit, very adaptable.
----
According to the above. I should be a wandering hippie at heart, with little direction and a killer sense of style. A person who, goes with the flow. Or, as my family lovingly says, "A ship with a lot of wind...but, no sail." Yup! That would be me. Not exactly sure where I'm going, or how I'll get there. I only know, I'm always up for a new adventure and definitely plan on enjoying the ride.

Espana - Part Two

Antonio Gaudi is a well known Spanish architect. He created many works of art throughout his life. One of his most famous projects was and is, La Sagrada Famila. Construction began in 1866 and continues to this day. Gaudi took over the project in 1883 at the age of 31 and it became his life's work.

Gaudi is also responsible for the design of Parc Guell (see previous post) as well as various buildings throughout Barcelona. His design aesthetic is unusual, to say the least. I've never seen anything like it.

The front door. Talk about detail!

The Nativity
Taking it all in.

This is what La Sagrada Famila should look like when it's all finished.
