ESPANA - PART THREE

This is my last post about Spain. Promise! I would have ended with Espana-Part Two, but there were too many things I wanted to share. And, since the blog world is one of the best ways to share photos with little bro in PA, there are A LOT of pictures below. Disclaimer: If you actually get to the end of this post, you're a better friend than I thought.

Tibadabo is a fantastic place. I had no idea what to expect. When I arrived, I was delighted to find a beautiful church. However, it was next door to an amusement park. What? An amusement park? I didn't take any pictures of this odd combination (Drat!) so, you'll just have to imagine a ferris wheel to the right of the below photo. All I have to say is, if a church/ferris wheel combo doesn't boost church attendance, I don't know what will.
Montserrat was my favorite!!! It is a monastery, carved out of the mountainside. We took a train and a gondola to get to Montserrat. A trip that took up most of our day. However, the time and distance were completely worth it. The church was beautiful and the setting...breathtaking. The pictures do NOT do it justice.
The church, inside the monastery.

We got a little creative. After lunch, I couldn't find Spencer. When I did, he was, "resting his eyes." Translation...sleeping.Back of the church. Time to head back to Barcelona. Here comes our ride to take us down the mountain.

The Palace is where we spent most of our time. As I mentioned in a previous post, I was in Spain to work with my brother, Spencer, and ITN International. When we weren't out and about, we were here, working. Not a bad setting, right?

Spencer loves his job!

The view from the top of the Palace steps. I, of course, had to take a lil' video.

Rambling around La Rambla. At the end of every day we'd say, "What should we do, tonight?" A common answer, "Let's walk around La Rambla." This was THE place to be. It is a full of trendy restaurants and hip shops. And, don't even get me started on the people watching. Fantastic!

My new boyfriend. I miss him.We were bored, one late night, and this happened......then, this.

DO-RE-MI-FA-SO-LA-TI-DO

When I was a little girl, my two favorite movies were, The Sound of Music and Gone with the Wind. My mother has memories of me walking around the house, at age two, saying, "fiddle-dee-dee." I must have thought I was Scarlett O'Hara. And, who wouldn't love to spend the day frolicking about Austria, singing, "Do-Re-Mi" with Fraulein Maria?

Here are the von Trapp children, 40 years later. Oh, how I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall at this reunion.

MISSY & SPENCER

My wonderful brother and sister-in-law welcomed their fourth baby, Oliver Thomas Segura, into the world on April 30th. And, let me tell you...this kid has a lot to live up to. He is named after Missy's paternal grandfather, Oliver, and my dad, Thomas. The kicker is, he was born on Missy's dad's birthday! Talk about a triple threat! No doubt he'll make his parents and all three grandfathers very proud. Missy and Spencer are incredible people! I have loved watching their family grow and can't wait to meet Ollie T.

ANNA VICTORIA

My cousin, Anna, is incredibly talented. She literally excels in everything! A few years ago, out of nowhere, she realized she can sing. When I say she can sing...I mean, she can really sing. Her voice is outstanding! Anna's older brother had the best reaction to her new found talent. He said something along the lines of, "Remember when Anna was a baby and I wanted to rip out her vocal chords because she had such a loud cry? Probably a good thing I didn't do that."

COSTCO DINNER

I love Costco! It is honestly one of my favorite places to shop and eat. Now, I know there are some who think sitting on plastic benches in a warehouse with cement floor, doesn't qualify as eating out. True, the ambiance leaves something to be desired and there is the occasional run in with a stray shopping cart...or child. However, I still consider it a restaurant and will regularly go out of my way for a slice of pizza, diet coke and hand dipped ice cream bar.

The diet starts, tomorrow...er, I mean, today. Dang it!
