Chipman Hall

It all started in Chipman Hall.

I have known Lisa since we were little girls. However, we didn't really get to know each other until high school. She attended Bonita High. I went to Glendora. We were both on our high school soccer team and regularly played against each other. We even dated the same boy! (Not at the same time.) When Lisa heard I had been accepted to BYU, she called and asked to be my roommate. I'm so happy I said, yes. We lived together all four years!!!

Lisa and I moved into 3116 Chipman Hall, the fall of 2000. We did our best to make the tiny dorm room our own and were excited to meet the other girls on the floor. As the year progressed we became friends with Chelsea, Rachel, Claire and Katie. The six of us had so much fun! We decided we needed to live together and all moved into an apartment after freshman year.

Chelsea is the life of the party and my dancing buddy. I remember staying up waaaay too late, while she and I choreographed a dance to ABBA's, Dancing Queen. Why? Why NOT would be the better question. She's the true athlete of the bunch and was on the BYU track team. (Go Cougs!) When I told her I was getting married, she tackled me to the ground. Classic Chelsea move.

Rachel is sweet and kind. I don't think I have ever heard a negative comment leave her lips. She has an innate charm about her and married Danny at the end of our sophomore year. We were sad to see her go...but had so much fun watching her fall in love. Not that we spied on her or anything. We were too mature for such antics.

Claire is witty and caring. In many ways, she was the little mother of our group. She was always close by to listen to our thoughts on life, boys, the Church, family, etc. We were all drawn to Claire's sincere personality. She has a way of making everyone around her feel at ease and content. All the boys loooved Claire. We were constantly trying to discover her dating secret!

Katie and I shared a room for two years. If the walls of King Henry and the Pillar House could talk. Where do I even begin? You never really knew what Katie had up her sleeve, or where you'd find her sleeping. (She fell asleep in the most random places.) The girl is from Indiana and went to a high school where they had, "drive your tractor to school day." Katie is an actress and her personality that is larger than life. She loves Julia Roberts. I still laugh when I think of the giant poster Katie had of Julia prominently showcased on our living room wall.

Lisa is the glue that holds the six of us together. She is thoughtful, sweet and always remembers birthdays. Lisa is also our unintentional source of entertainment. Her phone rang during Katie's wedding...but, after the sealing. We all just laughed and said, "Oh, Lisa." Claire and Chelsea are in charge of Lisa's phone on June 12th.

My college roommates are incredible women. I wouldn't be the person I am without these people in my life. We have watched each other fall in love, get married, serve missions and have children. In retrospect, we were probably an unlikely group of girls. However, our personalities seem to compliment each other perfectly.

We're still going strong, ten years later. We were able to get together (minus Rachel) for Katie's wedding, in March. What a fun weekend! Congratulations to Jarom and Katie!

Mr. and Mrs. Sidwell are quite the handsome couple.

Next Chipman reunion is June 12th. See ya in L.A., girls!

{Thanks for the great pictures, Chelsea!}

That post made me miss both college and roommates (girl roommates, that is). Sometimes I wish I could go back to BYU and do it all again!
